Marc Valli, the owner of Magma bookshops has launched a new design/visual culture called "Elephant", which I picked up today and haven't been able to put down. It's very traditional but with interesting articles and interveiws with cool/modern studios and designers who are doing great work and work of quality, which is at the centre of Valli's concept for the magazine.
"I see the audience as being made up of people who are enthusiastic and curious (I was going to say ‘young’, but you don’t need to be young to be that), not snobbish, but very ambitious about the quality of the art they look at, use, collect, think about, and produce."
It's designed by Matt Willey of Studio8 and doesn't fail to impress.
It's big/glossy and a long read. There is nothing worse than a magazine just full of design work and visuals in a time when we are all addicted to our rss readers for sites like FFFound and the anxiety that goes with them of having to keep them under control (or maybe thats just me?).
